The sponsor of the Contest is Royal Bank of Canada (the "Bank" or "Sponsor").

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY

  1. Contest Period:

    The Contest start date is 9:00:01 a.m. EST, April 1, 2009 and the Contest closing date is 11:59:59 p.m. EST, on June 14, 2009 (the "Contest Period"). Contest entries are accepted until 11:59:59 p.m. EST, on May 18, 2009.

  2. Qualifying Products, Accounts and Services:

    For this Contest:

    i) A "Qualifying Bank Account" means and is strictly limited to: the RBC No Limit Banking for Students® account and/ or the RBC Student Banking® account, offered by the Bank to its personal clients except for those acting as a guarantor or co-signor with student.

    ii) A "Qualifying Visa* Account" means and is strictly limited to: the RBC Royal Bank® Visa Classic II Student card and/ or the RBC Royal Bank Visa Classic Student card, except for those acting as a guarantor or co-signor with student.

    iii) A "Qualifying Line of Credit" means and is strictly limited to: the Royal Credit Line® for Students, except for those acting as a guarantor or co-signor with student.

  3. Method of Contest Entry:

    Contestants can enter online at www.rbc.com/betterstudentlife.

    a. Complete the online form correctly, including all the mandatory fields and indicating which Qualifying Bank Account, or Qualifying Visa Account or Qualifying Line of Credit you currently hold.

    b. Input your video title using a maximum of 30 characters or less.

    c. Upload your video which must be 60 seconds or less in length and does not exceed 12MB in size. Acceptable file formats are; AVI, MOV MPG or WMV.

    d. Complete the security process and submit.

    Each video submission will earn one (1) entry for consideration to the prize judging. Contest entries are limited to one (1) per person.

    No Purchase Entry: To enter without purchase send a copy of your video, including your name, address, phone number and mail to "Student Do-Over Video Challenge" Contest, 320 Front Street West, 9th Floor, Toronto, ON, M5V 3B6. To be eligible, videos must be 60 seconds or less in length and will not exceed 12MB in size, utilizing one of the following formats; AVI, MOV MPG or WMV on a CD, CDR or DVD. Limit of one (1) unique, mail-in, entry per person bearing sufficient postage during the Contest Period. To be eligible, mail-in entries must be received by 11:59:59 p.m. EST, on May 18, 2009.

    All video entries shall be the property of the contest Sponsor and will not be returned or acknowledged. By submitting this video, the entrants grant the Sponsor and/or its affiliates, related and subsidiary companies, and/or any of their licensees, agents and promotional agencies, the right to use their video including their name, image, likeness or voice or any part thereof, whether for internal or external communications in any marketing material whether in print, radio, television, interactive media, or any other media throughout the world in all languages, in perpetuity in connection with this contest.

  4. Prizes:

    There will be three (3) Prizes available to be won, each consisting of $10,000.00 CDN.

    Total Prizes Approximate retail value is $30,000.00 CDN.

  5. Winning Video Selection:

    Ten (10) video finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges as selected by the contest Sponsor, from all entries received. The criteria used for judging will be based on creativity, usefulness and entertainment value. The ten (10) selected video finalists will be posted online at www.rbc.com/betterstudentlife for voting by the general public starting 9:00am June 1, 2009 and ends 11:59pm, June 14, 2009. A limit of three votes per person per day per computer will apply. The three entries receiving the most legitimate votes will be selected as the prize winners from among all entries based on, and as determined solely by the Bank's records at the end of the Contest Period, which records will be deemed final and conclusive on all matters.

    Any duplicate or fraudulent votes, as deemed by the contest Sponsor will be removed and will not count towards a finalists vote total.

  6. Declaration and Releases:

    Prior to being eligible to win, the selected entrant will be contacted, by telephone or email to be qualified: required to sign and return a Release Form, confirming compliance with the official contest rules and if selected as a winner, acceptance of the prize as awarded.

    All 10 finalists will be contacted between May 26, 2009 to June 14, 2009. If a selected entrant cannot be qualified within this timeframe, the entry will be disqualified and the next eligible entry will be selected until all prizes have been awarded. All 10 finalists will be qualified, in the event they are selected as one of the 3 winners.

    Winners will be notified by the Bank to make arrangements for the awarding of their respective prizes. Each potential winner will be required to sign a standard Declaration of Compliance with Rules, Publicity and Liability Release form and consent in the form and manner provided, consenting to the use of their name, city or province/territory and/or photograph and/or video, without further compensation, in any publicity carried out by the Bank and/or its affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies relating to this contest, including posting to a website and releasing the Bank, the contest organizer and independent contest organization, its promotional agencies and each of the other prize sponsors and their respective, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents, from any liability relating to this contest or any prizes.

    If a potential winner fails to sign and return the required documents within 72 hours of receiving it by fax or email, the Bank reserves the right to void that entry and select another eligible entrant until the prizes are awarded. Any substitution will be at the sole discretion of the Bank. Any taxes, fees or incidental charges applicable to any prizes shall be the sole responsibility of the winners of that prize.

  7. Eligibility:

    This Contest is only open to residents of Canada, who are presently enrolled as a full-time student at a recognized Canadian educational institution and who have turned 17 years of age by the close of the Contest Period. Contestants who have not reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence will require permission by his/her parent or legal guardian. Co-signors and guarantors of the above mentioned Qualifying Products, Accounts and Services do not qualify. Contest is closed to employees of the Bank, its affiliates, the prize sponsors of this Contest and each of their respective independent contest agencies and promotional agencies, or anyone domiciled with any of the foregoing employees.

  8. Substitution of Prizes:

    The Bank and each prize sponsor reserve the right, in the event that a prize or any component of a prize cannot be awarded as described for any reason, to substitute a similar prize or component of a prize of equal or greater value without liability.

  9. Decisions Final/Property of the Bank:

    By entering, each entrant agrees to abide by these contest rules and regulations and the decisions of the Bank and the independent contest organization, which are final. All entries become the property of the Bank and none will be returned. No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected entrants.

  10. Lost/Stolen Entries/Cancelling Contest:

    The Bank, and each of its affiliates, is not responsible for entries that may be lost, damaged, illegible, irregular, misdirected, delayed or not received. The Bank, and each of its affiliates, will not be responsible for telephone, technical, operational, network, on-line, electronic, computer hardware or software failures of any kind, misdirected, stolen, incomplete, garbled or delayed Internet/e-mail, computer or telephone transmissions on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials relating to this Contest. If, for any reason, any portion of this Contest is not capable of running as planned or if the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest is corrupted or adversely affected, including without limitation by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond its control, the Bank reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify (including extending the Contest Period) or suspend the Contest without individual notice. Any such notice will be posted on the Bank's web site located at http://www.rbc.com/betterstudentlife.

  11. Quebec Residents:

    For residents of Québec: any litigation in regards to the conduct or organization of this publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux ("Regie") for a ruling. Any litigation in regards to the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for purposes of helping the parties reach a settlement. Au Québec : un différend quant à l'organisation et la conduite d'un concours publicitaire peut être soumis à la Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (" Régie ") afin qu'il soit tranché. Un différend quant à l'attribution d'un prix peut être soumis à la Régie uniquement aux fins d'une intervention pour tenter de le régler. For all other participants, any litigation must be initiated in the City of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

  12. Laws/Currency:

    This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations in Canada. This Contest is void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law. All currency indicated in these Contest rules is in Canadian dollars.

  13. Privacy:

    By entering this Contest, you consent to the Bank, its promotional agencies and independent contest organizers, storing and using the personal information submitted with your entry only for the purpose of administering this contest and prizes, including posting to a potential winners website or otherwise. You also permit us to use and share this information with other RBC companies to promote to you products and services that may be of interest to you, unless prohibited by law. We and RBC companies may communicate with you through various channels, including telephone, email, online or mail, using the contact information you have provided. You acknowledge that as a result of such sharing they may advise us of those products or services provided. We will respect your preferences otherwise recorded with us.
